Aashiqui is a romantic movie and was released in 1990. Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal who debuted with this movie became overnight stars. The movie was produced by late Gulshan Kumar of T series and was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The movie also made the careers of Deepak Tijori , Kumar Sanu , Anuradha Paudwal and Nadeem-Shravan. There was a controversy about the climax of the movie which was similar to another movie (Aamir Khan Starrer 'Dil').
The movie tells the story of Rahul who falls in love with Anu and how he overcomes the hurdles with the help of his friends. The music of the film was the plus point and songs like " Dheere Dheere Se ", " Tu Meri Zindagi Hai " , Ab Tere Bin " , Bas Ek Sanam Chahiye Aashiqui Ke liye " and " Jaane Jigar Jaaneman " are still popular today.
